Post-Coop

A grassroots virtual community-building space

About Us

Post-Coop is a virtual organizing space for people interested in community building and subsistence skills. The idea came from conversations between friends in a housing cooperative (coop). While living there, it was easy to share skills, ideas, and resources related to mutual interests around intentional community, resilience, and subsistence. At the end of our time physically together (post-coop), it felt sad facing back into a world where those ideals were much more difficult to find and bond over or gatekept by rich and annoying hippies.

The mission of Post-Coop is to connect people working on intentional community and subsistence projects to others who can give or receive help, share resources, and bond over mutual, heartful interest. It’s designed for small groups who would benefit from sharing/receiving support from other people who have worked on similar projects. We have no financial incentive other than the time and energy saved by sharing knowledge about projects and connecting people. For now, we offer three services:

  1. A quarterly virtual meeting with a presenter seeking help on a project and attendees to provide feedback/suggestions
  2. A forum for sharing/seeking support on projects
  3. A cute and whimsical zine to keep the inspiration up, spur on ideas, and share general, seasonally based information
  4. Compiled resources that have been graciously shared by others or developed collaboratively/in-house

Team Members

This lil’ venture is currently managed and funded by Sean Anderson, former membership coordinator at Summit Avenue Cooperative in Madison, WI, with emotional and creative support from friends and loved ones.
